New flea and tick products have been introduced over the past few years to counteract increasing parasite resistance to pre-existing products. These new products (Biospot Active, Bravecto, Cheristin , Effitix, NexGard, Pronyl OTC, Seresto, Spectra Sure and TriTak) have rapidly increased their share of this market. In the fourth quarter of 2014, over 20% of all flea and tick purchase dollars were spent on these new products.
These data are derived from MDI’s NEW Products, Services and Diagnoses Database. This database contains continuous incidence and treatment data for both canine and feline patients from a panel of 1800 small animal and mixed (small and large animal) veterinarians. In addition to product data, this study provides longitudinal pet level data that can be used to track common and rare conditions, incidence, treatment, compliance, referrals, outcome and follow-up, among other variables.
Since 1986, Market Dynamics Inc. (MDI) has specialized in veterinary market research, maintaining large, continuous medical and marketing databases. In addition to the Products, Services and Diagnoses Database, MDI publishes the Animal Health Study, Inventory Study and the National Veterinary Disease and Therapeutics Study.
